The Wide Angle cZX Presence Sensor detects a moving object within zero to 2 feet (zero to 0.5 meters). It also detects the direction and speed of object movement, in a 100-degree angular field of view (FOV). This sensor is designed for a wider observance angle at a low range.

The Wide Angle cZX Presence Sensor can be incorporated into a wide variety of applications (products). Smart Home applications enable convenience, energy savings, automation, and security. Industrial applications include robotic awareness, detection of parts and machine components, tracking material movement, broadening manufacturing automation, and more. The sensor outputs digital data using UART and I2C serial data formats.
Applications of the Wide Angle cZX Presence Sensor include:
- gesture or switch sensor e.g., detecting the nearby wave of a hand.
- movement and actuator sensor e.g., detecting objects like a box on a conveyor belt.
- motion sensor e.g., detecting directional movement where no activity should occur.
- proximity sensor e.g., informing a robot that it is approaching an object.
- Burglar detector e.g., placed near a door or window to detect objects or movement.
- Object counter e.g., boxes on a conveyor or people in a hallway.
The Wide Angle cZX Presence Sensor makes use of PN codes (pseudo-noise) in the analysis. The PN sequence or advanced signal processing increases the measurement resolution, resulting in improved movement detection. As well as improved range or distance measurement of objects.
