The Wide-Angle Analog and Digital Presence Sensor senses the presence and proximity of objects using active and pulsed-coded infrared light. The sensor detects objects up to a range of 0.5 meters and 100-degree angular field of view (FOV) and alerts to object range (such as a package range on a conveyor for example). Data output is in UART, I2C, and analog voltage, and is always available. A sample test program is also available for this sensor. A plastic cover is also available for easy mounting.
Applications of the Wide-Angle Analog and Digital Presence Sensor include:
- movement and actuator sensor e.g., detecting objects like a box on a conveyor belt.
- motion sensor e.g., detecting movement in an area where no activity should occur.
- proximity sensor e.g., informing a robot that it is approaching an object.
- Burglar detector e.g., placed near a door or window to detect objects or movement.
The Wide-Angle Analog and Digital Presence Sensor makes use of PN codes (pseudo-noise) in the analysis but outputs UART/I2C and analog voltage for various (or Tri-link) actuator responses. The PN sequence or advanced signal processing increases the measurement resolution, resulting in improved movement detection, as well as improved range or distance measurement of objects.
